LEFTOVER TAGS tutorial by Kim

Hi Kim here!

Today I have a quick tag to share with this step by step! Don't know about you but I have lots of gelatin plate prints in my stash. Many for different reasons, some are too pretty and I don't want to cover them up and some I just didn't like the results. But, of course! I could not toss them in the trash haha

Step 1
Gather prints and I used a manila folder to cut a 'tag' from.

Step 2

Without thinking much on it, start to tear up pieces to fit into your tag, canvas or card substrate. Stash bust, not keep :)

Step 3

Small space I settled on 4 main torn 'chunks'. Attach with matte medium or whatever collage medium you prefer, once you have a basic arrangement set. Let dry. When I use a  manila tag, I coat the backside as well with matte medium, I finds it helps so the paper doesn't buckle and warp as much.

Step 4

Embellish the top layer with your favorite stencil. Here I used ARTPlorations Bloom Factory with some white acrylic paint.

Step 5

If you coat the surface with matte medium, you have a bit of time to wipe away any marks you just stenciled. Likewise, if you don't like the stenciling at all, wipe it all away and try something else or another stencil or color.

I wiped away some messy marks at the top.

Step 6

Stamp some more fun stuff on top. I used Stazon so it would dry easily on top of the matte medium.
The butterfly stamp is from the STAMPlorations TRENDY BUTTERFLY set. The butterfly fits into the shape on the ARTplorations Flutters and Splatters Large stencil.

Step 7

More butterfly marks and words from Trendy Butterfly. The words Create and Art are from the ARTplorations Fearless Large stencil.

Edge the tag with a paint dauber.

Final

Have a wonderful day!

ART PAGE tutorial by Kim

Hi Kim here!

Today I just wanted to share an art journal page and the steps I did to create it. It was fun playing with just stamps, stencils and acrylic paints. My 'art journal' is an old magazine.

Hope you like it!

Step 1 Masked off the rest of the pages since I am a really messy creator. I just used some cheap foil and painter's tape. I used white acrylic on the base of the page in progress.

Step 2 Applied a wash of medium blue acrylic. Once I did that I proceeded to drop my wet rag on it. The splotches looked cool so I just left it.

Step 3 Add some ground in yellow acrylic. I smeared the paints using my fingers and an old giftcard. At the top, I wanted it brighter, so I added some more white.

Step 4 Darken the top and side using a much darker blue fluid acrylic. I like the fluid acrylics since they are fairly transparent.

Step 5 Smeared and swirled with fingers for texture.

Step 6 Added some random lines of contrasting color using the edge of an old giftcard.

Step 7 Acrylics dry fairly fast so it makes it fun to keep going. I used the Old Rose Prints ARTplorations stencil with some white gesso. I sprayed some Pink Glimmer Mist on while wet and while the stencil was in place.

Step 8 More stenciling with white acrylic using the Square Links ARTplorations stencil. Love this stencil for pattern and texture!

Step 9 More stenciling using ARTplorations Oh My Stars and Bloom Silhouettes. I love the pop of white on the dark blue!

Step 10 Center stencil with ARTplorations LARGE Happy Flowers.

Finishing touches with STAMPlorations stamps and Stazon Ink. I used Bold Sentiments Imagine and Trendy Butterflies. The Old Rose Prints flowers were too pink, so I applied a bit of purple over them and it came out with a sort of tie-dye look. Using the same purple I added some random splatters.

Thanks for reading, have a fabulous day!

MOP UP AND EXTRAS ATC's tutorial by Kim

Hi, Kim here!

Today I have a short tutorial making 2 ATCs using the "extra" bits that always accumulate while making projects.

I have a bag filled with some blank papers cut to ATC size, 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches, from various papers as well as some postcard sizes and random tags. That way when I have some left over colored modeling paste as above, I don't have to just throw it away. I placed 2 blank ATCs side by side and used the ARTplorations Square Links stencil with the paste.

I used color sprays on one card and watercolor powder on the other...and dipped and smooshed some tags for later, too.

Next I added some dots and straw circles to add some more layers.

Now going back to leftovers from other projects, I picked out two butterflies that I had fussy cut before. They are stamped with STAMPlorations Trendy Butterflies and the sentiments are STAMPlorations Subway Art Builders Create

Since they were already stamped, leftovers, it saved a lot of time. Distress the edges, arrange and glue. Done. Two ATCs complete and ready to go to a new home.

Have a great day!

FREEDOM art tag tutorial by Kim

Hello, hello! Thanks so much for visiting today! It's kim with a tag to share and a few photos of my steps along the way.

Today I am starting with a piece of Bristol Board and Distress Inks. Very simply, I just applied the colors with various intensity.

I selected the Retro Circles ARTplorations stencil and grabbed a babywipe to  lift away some color in random places all over the tag background.

Next I used the Large Leaf Bliss ARTplorations stencil and white multi-surface acrylic to add another layer.

After letting the painted layer dry, this is the completed background. I wanted to show the tag before adding any more to it.

I stamped the awesome butterfly using the STAMPlorations Blossom like a Butterfly stamp set. I smooshed the dry stamped butterfly into puddles of Nuance powders, it is another water soluble powdered dye with intense color. I Dymo'd (not a word I know hehe) the sentiment. To me this tag is all about simple.

Taaa-daa! "Freedom", the tag is complete. I clipped the corners and inked the edges with Abandoned Coral to partially frame the butterfly. The blue is left open like the sky, unbounded.

I hope you have a wonderfully colorful day! Thanks for reading :)

BLOSSOM LIKE A BUTTERFLY art tag tutorial by Kim

Hello!

Welcome back for some crafty play today! It is my turn, kim today. I made a tag to share and have lots of pictures, hope you enjoy!

Step 1 I started with tag shapes cut from heavy watercolor paper by Strathmore. I just tore the bottom randomly.

Step 2 I applied the Liquitex Gloss Super Heavy Gel medium through the Old Rose Prints ARTplorations stencil. The Gloss Gel dries shiny and clear. This product was a small treat to
myself :)

Step 3 I used the Nuance by Magenta a water soluble powdered dye. I sprinkled it on top of the wet gel medium.

As the powder reacts, it starts to bloom.

Step 4 Before the gel medium dries, mist water on top. The color is very vibrant and intense, I stopped with one misting because I love intense color :)

There is run off of the colors onto the matt, so not to waste, I used one of the tags to mop it up!

Step 5 I stamped the sentiment, STAMPlorations Blossom like a Butterfly. The torn up book makes a nice stamping cushion.

Step 6  Stamped and heat embossed the wonderful butterfly from the same set.

Final step: I colored the butterfly with Inktense watercolor pencils and fussy cut. I mounted the butterfly with a foam dot and gently lifted the wings.

Close-ups

Thanks so much for following along! Have a wonderfully colorful day!

FA LA LA LATTE TAG tutorial by Kim

Hi!

It's Kim today and I have a tag I would like to share along with some photos of how I made it.

Step 1 I started with a print I made from my homemade gelatin plate DecoArt acrylics and the awesome Large ARTplorations stencil, "Leaf Bliss".

Step 2 Once dry I added some more stenciling on top in gold acrylic using the ARTplorations, "Retro Circles" stencil.

Step 3 Before the gold paint dried, I sprinkled clear embossing powder on top. This is the unmelted stage.

A bit closer, I love the texture embossing adds!

Step 4 Heat emboss the powder,

Step 5 I added some more embossing in white using the STAMPlorations stamp set, "Artsy Border Maker". I used WOW Opaque Bright White, which I love because it stays white on top of the background, especially cool on top of red :)

Step 6 On the background I stamped the Fa La La La La part from, "Caffeinated Christmas" as well as onto the mini tag up top.

Have a great day!
