IN MY GARDEN JOURNAL PAGE by Lee-Anne

Hi, everyone! It's Lee-Anne here with my first Mixed Media Design Team tutorial for you. I am so excited to be on this team and looking forward to sharing all sorts of mixed media projects with you.

These journal pages are all about my garden...the colors, the birds, the flowers, the colorful accessories, etc.

Add a generous puddle of gesso to your journal pages. Using a spatula, old gift card, etc. spread the gesso around, but leave lots of texture. Allow to dry thoroughly:

Add modeling paste through stencils (Nestled Circles, Retro Circles, X Marks the Spot) randomly across your pages. Again, allow to dry thoroughly:

Stamp various images (Artsy Border Maker, Mixed Media Grunge, Trendy Butterflies, Trendy Birds) in archival ink, randomly across your pages. I like to use my fingers to stamp. It doesn’t matter if you get partial stamping...it’s all about the texture

Add acrylic paint with your fingers, a paint brush, or just dribble it on your pages. Then add water with a water mister, a paint brush, whatever you have on hand and spread the paint all around on the pages:

Add more color with color mists and mist heavily with water. Tip your journal up, down, left and right to allow for lots of dribbles and again, dry thoroughly.

Time for more stenciling. Add graphite texture paste through stencils (Flutterby, Happy Flowers) and also use your spatula or finger to add bits randomly across the pages. Again, allow to dry. Then randomly add gesso across both pages and allow to dry.

Add some self-adhesive letters to your journal pages and voila, you are done!
