FOREVER CANVAS by Carol

Carol here with my first Mixed Media Team tutorial, I hope it inspires you. 

I started with a 5 x 7 canvas board, and using gel medium, I added a torn napkin to the bottom corner to add some texture (letting it tear and crumple) then coated everything with gesso.

Once dry, I used archival ink and various stamps from the Mixed Media Grunge set to stamp in the background and around the edges of the canvas. I then used texture paste through the Hearts Tumbled stencil and left everything to dry.

To add colour, I used Distress Paint in Abandoned Coral and Cracked Pistachio. I pooled the paint onto my mat and sprayed with water before pressing the canvas in.

I did this twice, blotting any excess with kitchen towel. I then coated everything with clear gesso to seal in the colour.

Using my Silent Setter, I made two holes and using brads attached my sentiment from the Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments stamp set, then inked around the edges with black archival.

My focal piece (a recycled photo frame which I've re-painted to match the canvas) was then added with gel medium.
