SIMPLE WATERCOLOR POWDER CANVAS tutorial by Kim

Hi! It's kim today and it is my turn for today's step by step. I decided to make a simple "canvas" using one stencil and one stamp along with some Nuance water soluble colors.

Ready? Here we go!

Step 1: I used the Large Feathers and Arrows ARTplorations stencil. I don't clean off my stencils unless I used gel medium or modeling paste, the paint makes them feel loved :) I used a half sheet of mixed media paper I had left over from something else. I love the torn edge, so fun. The goal is to just DO something, just create with what is handy and already in your stash.

Step 2: Using a palette knife I applied heavy gel medium in two areas. I like the heavy medium since it dries clear. You can use modeling paste or texture paste, whatever is close by.

Step 3:While the medium is wet, use a mister and add some water randomly over the stenciled areas. Then spritz or sprinkle some of the water color powder onto the wet spots.

Step 4: I used a straw to blow the streaks off from the puddles. Yummy pools of color. Next let this dry naturally. I think the colors are richer when you do this.

Step 5: Once dry, I added another feather at the bottom, this time using modeling paste. I wanted the white paste to add more dimension. While the paste is wet, add color powder and mist. This time I tilted the paper to make it run up towards the top.

Step 6:  Once the whole sheet is dry, I added some white doodling along the bottom feather.

Step 7: Splatter some white acrylic. Random stamped using BOLD SENTIMENTS: Create

Step 8: Final. Now go look at it outside, the colors are nice and deep and rich. In daylight you can see the layers and depth. I love color!

Thanks for hangin' out!
